Application Instructions

Before you start painting, ensure that the temperature is above 10°C and check that no rain is forecasted for the day. Preparation of the surface is crucial for optimal results.

- For New Wood: Allow wood to weather for six weeks. Lightly sand the surface and wipe it clean with a slightly damp lint-free cloth using methylated spirit.

- For Old Wood: Sand down to remove loose paint and ensure a smooth finish. Clean with white spirit and address any mould or rot appropriately.

- For Brick or Stone: Brush away any dust and debris before painting.

- For Terracotta: Sand down the surface to remove the glaze, ensuring it no longer beads when applied with water.

- For Metal: Always prime before applying the Garden Paint, using a grey primer for darker colours and white for lighter shades.

Once your surface is prepared, stir the paint thoroughly and test a small patch to ensure satisfaction with the colour. Apply the first coat in the direction of the wood grain and allow it to dry for four hours. For best protection, three coats are recommended, with light sanding between the second and third coats where applicable.

Cleaning up after use is simple; brushes can be washed in warm, soapy water, while regular cleaning of painted surfaces will help maintain their look and durability.
