Description
The JG Speedfit Superseal Pipe Insert has been specifically created for use with Speedfit Barrier Pipe and Speedfit fittings, ensuring an extra layer of protection when installing a Speedfit Push Fit System. This innovative insert features its own O-ring, working in tandem with a stem that slides within the internal diameter of the pipe, providing a secondary seal against the inside of the fitting.
Enhanced Connection Features
When used with an insert, the Speedfit connection boasts several advantageous design elements. By sliding the stem of the insert into the pipe, users achieve improved compression of the main O-ring on the pipe. This also enhances the rigidity of the pipe segment within the fitting, thereby reducing the risk of leaks that may arise from any side load. Additionally, the head of the insert design facilitates easier insertion into the connector, streamlining the installation process.
Applications
This push-fit solution is versatile, suitable for various plumbing and heating systems, including:
- Mains fed and indirect cold water systems
- Vented and unvented hot water systems
- Vented and sealed central heating systems
Speedfit fittings are compatible with copper pipes meeting BS EN 1057 standards and Speedfit cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) Barrier Pipe that adheres to BS7291 specifications. However, it is crucial to note that these fittings should not be used with gas, fuel oil, or compressed air applications, nor on stainless steel pipes.
Standards and Compliance
JG Speedfit products are crafted under a comprehensive system that is assessed and certified by B.S.I. to comply with BS EN ISO9001. These products also have approval from the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme and the BBA. The Speedfit PEM and PKM fittings, along with Speedfit barrier pipe, hold kitemarks according to BS7291 Part 1 and 3, Class S (Licence No. KM39767).
Installation Guidelines
For optimal performance and safety, it is recommended to clip pipes in ceilings and roof voids every metre, ensuring they are secured at least 60mm from the fitting’s end. Adequate support through pipe clips is necessary to mitigate undue stress or side loads on the fittings. The use of JG Speedfit Superseal inserts adds significant structural integrity to the pipework, maintaining the shape and ensuring a secure connection without the risk of leaks.
Environmental Considerations
When used indoors, Speedfit products are not adversely affected by sunlight. However, for outdoor applications, protecting the products from ultraviolet light by using lagging or painting is recommended. This ensures long-lasting performance and durability of the plumbing system.
The JG Speedfit Superseal Pipe Insert is an essential component for achieving a reliable, leak-free installation, providing peace of mind for any plumbing or heating setup.
