Silicone socks offer small but significant changes to make 3D printing even easier, cleaner and faster with E3D hot ends. They hold on tightly to the heating block and last longer than ever! Made of a heat-resistant nonstick silicone material, our socks repel the buildup of molten plastic. This really helps with sticky materials like co-polyesters and stuffed materials that they like to build into nozzles. These also provide a large increase in temperature stability, especially if you use high-airflow cooling around the nozzle to cool the pressure. The additional cooling combined with the reduction of thermal radiation from the block and nozzle to pressure increases the ability to print large overhangs and bridges, while keeping the temperature of the hot end extremely stable. The covers simply press on the front of the HotEnd without disassembling – they fit well when pressed cold for the first time. When hot, the silicone expands to the right size to tightly fit the hot end. V6 socks come in a 3-pack because they don't last forever. Depending on the materials you print and the amount of abuse they receive, it eventually wears out the silicone. Even with sticky abrasive materials and a little abuse, they should easily last more than 100 hours of printing.
