The difference is that the flexible part of the light with the articulated arm and constant spring mechanism has been supplemented with a straight lamp frame, making it look more like a conventional floor lamp. However, this is only the case visually; functionally, the great flexibility and balanced design of the Anglepoise® remain unchanged. The original Anglepoise® design was created by English industrial designer George Carwardine, who applied his knowledge of car design, where he was responsible for shock absorber development, to the development of a work light in 1930.
