Lights.co Flexibly adjustable Anglepoise® Original Mini 1227 table lamp The Anglepoise® Original 1227 Mini table lamp is approximately two-thirds the size of the well-known original from the 1930s and also features the unique constant-tension spring mechanism, the traditional stepped base, chrome fittings and the label’s distinctive design. This table lamp, which can be adjusted very flexibly thanks to three joints, is extremely versatile throughout the home. It serves, for example, as an excellent light source on a desk. The Original 1227 Mini table lamp is fitted with a fabric-covered cable. The idea for the original large version from 1933/34 came from the English industrial designer George Carwardine (1887–1948), a specialist in shock absorber systems, who wanted to design a versatile work light. Equipped with three springs, the light essentially mimics the movements of the human arm and, thanks to its perfectly balanced design, became the forerunner of all spring-loaded lights. In 1934, Carwardine sold the licence for the Original 1227 Mini table lamp to Terry & Sons, the company that had already supplied the springs for his designs. The Anglepoise® Original Mini 1227 table lamp is fitted with an E14 socket, which can accommodate an LED bulb with a maximum power of 6 W, and it is supplied with an energy-efficient LED retrofit bulb. Note: To ensure the table lamp is perfectly balanced, the weight of the bulb used should be between 25 g and 45 g.
