Lights.co Original 1227 Wall Lamp with convenient articulated arm This wall lamp, based on the original design by George Carwardine (1887–1948), was launched in 2015. It is simply screwed onto the wall. The integrated articulated arm allows the light to be precisely directed. When the light is not in use, it can be folded flat against the wall to save space. The Original 1227 wall lamp is characterised by its classic industrial design and high functionality. George Carwardine was actually an automotive engineer by profession, specialising in the design of vehicle suspension systems. He came up with the idea of using his expertise to develop a special work light and fitted it with special springs that act like the muscles of the human arm. This led to the creation of the Anglepoise® work light, for which he obtained a patent in 1932. It became a pioneer in the field of spring-loaded lamps. The Original 1227 wall lamp is supplied with an LED bulb featuring an E14 base. Only LED bulbs weighing between 25 and 45 g may be used to ensure optimum balance.
