Islay single malt from the Elements of Islay line: a 2000 distillate aged 12 years in American Oak, then 7 years in first-fill Pedro Ximenez sherry butt. Bold smoke with sweet spice and meaty depth. Limited to 840 bottles. Ardbeg Elements Of Islay Ar 11 Single Malt Scotch 19 year old 56.8% ABV Nose: Incense thrown on a log fire. Spiced fruitcake with raisins, star anise and saffron served on a wooden board. Palate: Intense flavours of leather, clove, burnt caramel and liquorice. Teriyaki glaze on barbeque ribs. With water, it develops fruity notes of plum jam and dried blackcurrants. Finish: Long and bittersweet – an espresso served with biscotti and chunks of dark chocolate.
