Prontosan X wound gel is a wound cleanser whose composition is based on purified water and two key ingredients: an antimicrobial agent - polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) and betaine - a surfactant (0.1%). Prontosan X gel is used for cleaning and irrigation of acute and chronic wounds at risk of infection. The preparation facilitates complete control (eradication) of bacteria, wound contamination and biofilm removal. It also removes the unpleasant smell from the wound. Prontosan X will be used for small wounds, as well as for deep wounds and wounds located in hard-to-reach places. After applying the gel to the wound, the betaine destroys the biofilm and the PHMB solution eliminates the bacteria. The wound remains clean. Prontosan X wound gel is characterized by high viscosity, so it can be used when a larger amount of preparation is required. It can also be applied to sutured surgical or traumatic wounds to prevent further microbial contamination. The preparation should be used with a frequency that allows easy removal of all layers and necrotic lesions.
