HOW TO USE - WET, OILED OR DRY: soak the puck in water for about 5 minutes and it glides more freely and clogs less; it also works with honing oil, or completely dry in the field. Rest the axe head on a log or block, or clamp it in a vice, hold the puck firmly with thumb and fingers - the 25 mm thick body gives a grip well clear of the edge - and work small overlapping circles from the edge towards the cheek. Do both sides with the coarse #120 face first, then repeat with the fine #600 face. Rinse, wipe and air-dry before putting it away.
