The Baxi has two different types of electrodes, ignition electrodes and flame detecting electrodes. The ignition or spark electrode is responsible for creating the spark that starts the flame within the burner. The flame sensing electrodes are responsible for checking if there is a flame present in the burner. This is an important task and if the flame is not detected, the boiler knows to re-attempt ignition.
