This is caused by the fluctuations in the temperature and pressure within those systems. A discharge pipe linked to the condensate trap then allows any held water passage out of the property. The water contained within the condensate trap can contain mild levels of acid due to carbon dioxide formed from boiler use dissolving in the water.
