Its combination of a comfortable aluminium frame, wide-range gearing and practical equipment means it's ready to carry luggage and tackle varied surfaces straight from the box.Cube builds the Kathmandu EXC around its double-butted Aluminium Superlite frame with Trekking Comfort geometry. Double-butted tubing places material where it's needed while reducing unnecessary weight elsewhere, contributing to a complete bike weight of 16.3kg.A key part of the frame is Cube's Integrated Carrier 3.0. Rather than treating the rear carrier as a separate accessory, it's incorporated neatly into the bike's design, providing a practical platform for carrying luggage on commutes, shopping trips or longer tours.Up front, the SR Suntour NCX32 E LO Air fork provides 63mm of suspension travel. Its air spring can be adjusted to suit the rider, while the suspension helps take the edge off rough roads and uneven surfaces. A lockout gives riders the option to firm up the fork when suspension movement isn't needed.Shimano CUES provides a 2x11-speed drivetrain, combining an RD-U8020 rear derailleur and FD-U6010 front derailleur with Rapidfire-Plus shifting. A 46/32T Hollowtech II chainset works with a wide-range 11-45T cassette, providing plenty of gearing for everything from faster roads to steeper climbs with luggage. The two-chainring setup also provides smaller steps between ratios than a comparable wide-range 1x drivetrain, helping riders find a comfortable cadence as gradients and speeds change. A chain guard is fitted to the chainset for additional everyday practicality.Shimano hydraulic disc brakes provide dependable stopping power, using BR-MT200/UR300 components with 180mm and 160mm rotors. Hydraulic operation provides consistent lever feel and useful modulation in changing weather, particularly helpful when the bike is carrying extra weight.ACID EX25 rims are tubeless ready and paired with an ACID PL-8 front hub and Shimano FH-TC500-HM rear hub. The rear uses a 12mm thru-axle, while both hubs use Centre Lock disc fittings.Schwalbe Marathon Mondial Pro tyres are fitted in a wide 47-622 size. These trekking-focused tyres provide useful volume for comfort on rougher surfaces, while their Double Defence construction adds puncture protection for longer journeys. They're also tubeless ready, giving riders the option of a tubeless setup.Comfort continues through the 680mm Cube Comfort Trail Bar and ACID Sequence Pro 160 saddle with Bubble Foam padding. A Cube Performance 27.2mm seatpost and Performance Stem SLX complete the cockpit and contact points. The Kathmandu EXC also comes ready for everyday use with a full complement of accessories. Mudguards provide protection in wet conditions, a kickstand makes parking easier and integrated lights add practicality for commuting and touring. ACID PP Trekking pedals are also supplied.Taken together, the wide-range CUES 2x11 drivetrain, adjustable air suspension, 47mm tyres and integrated luggage carrying make the Cube Kathmandu EXC particularly versatile. It's equally at home handling regular commuting duties or being loaded up for longer rides where comfort, carrying capacity and dependable components matter.
