CUERPO DE CRISTO

Astisendo Grupo Editorial El Cuerpo De Cristo Comic Spanish. When Vera was a child, a demon haunted her house and harassed her mother, hammering at her nerves until she was bedridden for days.Between exorcism sessions with the meiga (witch) and appointments with the psychiatrist, year after year, superstition fades away to make way for diagnosis. But, despite the abuse, illness and eccentricities, the love between a mother and her daughter is stronger than anything else, surviving the passage of time and storms. The Body of Christ is the declaration of love from a daughter to her mother, whom she has to care for at too young an age, but it is also the tragic and universal portrait of a woman trapped in her role as daughter, mother and wife in a patriarchal, poor and Catholic Spain.Made during a residency at the Maisons des auteurs in Angoulême (France), this first graphic novel by Bea Lema stands out for its impressive graphic style:along with the drawings, incredible hand-made embroidery by the author and a deceptively naive design inspired by Chilean arpilleristas, and decorations reminiscent of Spanish ceramics. The Body of Christ will also have a film adaptation as an animated short film, currently in production. tradeinn Techinn
