Read this before you order. In the box you get the lock case, the strike plate, the dust box and the fixing screws. The turn and release set is not included and neither are handles, so you will need to buy those separately unless you already have them. The lock has two square spindle holes: the upper one takes the handle spindle and the lower one takes the turn spindle. This is a privacy lock, so there is no keyhole and no keys. A thumb turn on the inside shoots the bolt, and a release on the outside frees it in an emergency. That is what makes it right for a bathroom, a shower room or a toilet, and it is also why it cannot be locked from the outside. Not a tubular latch and not a sash lock. A tubular latch only holds the door closed and a sash lock opens with a key. This is a mortice bathroom lock: it holds the door shut with a sprung latch bolt and locks it with a separate bolt driven by the turn. The whole door lock mechanism sits inside one steel case that is morticed into the door edge. The 3 Inch case size, which is the 76mm measurement from the faceplate to the back edge of the lock body. Measure the lock you are replacing across the same span before you order, and if it comes to the 2.5 Inch size order that version instead.
