Description

Amazon COMPATIBLE WITH GIANT AND LIV ROAD RANGE, 2012 TO 2021 — Fits Defy, TCR, Propel, Avail and Envie road frames, AnyRoad, Revolt, TCX, Brava and Invite gravel and cyclocross frames, Escape, FastRoad, Alight and Thrive fitness frames, plus the Liv line and Co-op Cycles ARD 1.1 and 1.2. Replace Giant part number RE171A RIDGE ARC BACK FACE, HARDWARE IN THE BOX — This hanger carries a raised ridge arc on the back that seats into the frame's axle pocket, and it mounts on the inside of the dropout. Two M3x8 flat head screws are included, so you are not standing in the bike shop hunting for fasteners that small. A similar-looking hanger exists with a flat back and no ridge arc, so confirm your old part has the ridge before you order. THE PART THAT'S MEANT TO BREAK — A derailleur hanger is the designed sacrificial link between your frame and your rear derailleur. When the bike goes over in a parking lot or the mech catches a stick, the hanger bends or snaps first and absorbs the hit that would otherwise wreck a derailleur costing several times as much, or crack the dropout on a carbon frame that can't be repaired at all. Replacing a bent one also fixes ghost shifting that no amount of cable adjustment will cure. TEN MINUTE FIX, WORTH KEEPING A SPARE — Remove the rear wheel, back out two screws with a hex key, swap the hanger, reinstall and re-index the derailleur. No frame disassembly, no special tools. Most riders order two: one on the bike and one in the saddle bag or travel case, because a broken hanger a long way from home ends the ride outright.
