Ensure both vehicles are turned off before connecting the booster cables. Connect the red clamp to the positive terminal of the dead battery and the black clamp to the negative terminal of the live battery or a grounded metal part of the vehicle. Start the vehicle with the live battery, then attempt to start the vehicle with the dead battery.
