The hoppy bitterness of Duvel and the high carbon content effortlessly cut through the fats of the fish and makes them more easily digestible. Also Duvel forms a perfect match with hot Southeast Asian cuisine. The hoppiness of the beer contrasts beautifully with the spicy savouriness of the Oriental dishes and 'quenches' the mouth, so to speak.Duvel is a classic that can be paired with many hard cheeses. It goes very well with Comte, but is well worth trying with L'Etivaz, a Gruyere-type cheese from the Swiss village of the same name.
