Astisendo Grupo Editorial El Corazon Delator Y Otros Relatos Extraordinarios De E.a. Poe Spanish Comic. Created in different periods, the five adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe´s stories by Alberto Breccia collected in The Tell-Tale Heart are not mere pretexts for a series of stylistic variations. They provide the genius, firmly convinced that it is the style that must adapt to the atmosphere of the story, and not the other way around, with a new opportunity to show his exceptional mastery of drawing and composition. With astonishing ease and fluency, he moves from a formal minimalism and cinematographic montage (The Tell-Tale Heart) to grotesque tones (William Wilson) or a more expressionist style (The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar). If a clear distance separates the stripped-down rigor he uses in The Tell-Tale Heart from the profusion of shapes and colors he exploits in The Masque of the Red Death, a common thread nevertheless connects all these stories. The constant graphic invention that Breccia demonstrates has the sole intention of illuminating in a raw way the blurred line between life and death. In this way, he captures this decisive moment when, gripped by nothingness, man becomes his own executioner, that unfathomable fault that Poe himself never ceased to explore throughout his work. This edition brings together five masterpieces of literary adaptation accompanied by various original material including the montage manuscript of The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar and the sketches of the adaptation, as well as those of an earlier version that Breccia had produced in the 1980s.The Tell-Tale Heart is featured in the 2019 Heritage selection of the Angoulême festival. tradeinn Techinn
