Understanding Comics: The Invisible ArtDespite the growing number of comics and graphic novels available to readers, the number of essays on the medium is incredibly scarce. In this book, however, Scott McCloud shows us that comics are more than deserving of in-depth study.Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art is considered the definitive work on the theory of comics as an art form and a means of communication. It explores the definition of comics, the historical development of the medium, its vocabulary, and the various ways in which these elements have been used.Understanding Comics is a comic book about the medium of comics itself and its inner workings, while also examining numerous aspects of visual communication. It has won the Eisner and Harvey Awards and has been praised in major media outlets such as the New York Times, Publishers Weekly, and Wired. It has been translated into more than 13 languages. On the other hand, Making Comics, McCloud´s new theoretical book in which he goes a step further in unraveling the narrative secrets of comics, manga, and graphic novels, will be published in June, also by Astiberri. tradeinn Techinn
