Butyl Glazing Compound is a semi-setting, hand-applied sealant designed for glazing double glazed units into timber window frames where a timber bead is used. It is suitable for both soft and hardwood frames, featuring an elastic formulation that moves with the frame to help prevent cracking. The compound is easier to apply than most competitive putties and has an extended shelf life due to added plasticiser, which also improves adhesion. It is suitable for use with laminated and heat-absorbing glass and can be used for bedding insulated glass units and glazing greenhouses (metal and timber). It is not suitable for plastic frames or frames treated with decorative microporous stains.
