Description
Everbuild Black Jack 904 Bitumen Roof Felt Adhesive is a cold-applied, black oxidised bitumen-based adhesive designed for bonding roofing felt to various surfaces including concrete, asphalt, metal, wood, and itself. It is available in multiple sizes, including 1, 2.5, 5 and 25 litre tins, and has a shelf life of up to 24 months when sealed. The product is suitable for use as a cold gritting solution and delivers high bond strength for felts, laps, and bonding chippings to the final felt layer. Surfaces should be clean and dry, and it should be stored in a cool, dry place away from ignition sources.
It forms a flexible film that hardens and softens with changing temperatures, helping accommodate movement in roofing assemblies. It is designed for use on slopes up to 10, and requires a primer for porous surfaces. When used on timber roofs, the first felt layer must be nailed as per BS 8217-1994, with subsequent layers able to be bonded.
For best results, chippings should be added to the wet film immediately after application. The product can also be used as a cold gritting solution, and it is intended for bonding roofing felts to metal, concrete, timber and other surfaces.
