Meet the Hive Fire Starter, it's not your typical rounded Ferro Rod! The Hive is hexagonal with six flat sides. The flat striking surfaces create more contact between the Ferro Rod and striker which causes more material to be removed when striking, meaning larger showers of molten sparks! The Hive comes in two sizes; the 4 and 8" lengths. As all of our Ferro Rods are pretty large, we wanted to offer something a little smaller that could easily fit inside survival or fire kit tins. If you are looking for something even smaller, make sure to check out our Ferro Rod necklaces! The Stealth comes with our new Stealth Fire Strikers. Designed from scratch and manufactured from heat-treated Steel, this striker will surpass all of your fire lighting needs. The striker also performs as a scraper/prying tool, spanner, and bottle opener. More info on the design process is available on our website. We have chosen to use 550 'Survival' paracord for the lanyard, which proves to be exceptionally valuable in the outdoors. This cord includes materials including copper wire, fishing line, waxed jute, and parachute cord. These materials serve a multitude of purposes in the field, including repairing shoelaces, fishing, constructing snares, building shelters, and more. Both Ferro Rod sizes are super thick, ensuring longevity and allowing for up to 20,000 strikes. All of our Ferro Rods are manufactured using our Forest Fundamentals Ferrocenium blend. We tried and tested numerous Ferro Rod compositions till we had perfected the optimum balance between softness and durability. Our Ferro Rods throw down large showers of molten sparks, but we were also careful not to make the rods too soft to ensure longevity. This is perfect for all Ferro rod junkies, who just want to try something new! This Ferro Rod is also for people who are serious about their fire-craft and don't want to leave any room for error.
