Buy Sheds Direct
Whether you want a garden studio, family room or garden office, at 5x4m and offering 17.5m² of internal space, the Forest Mendip Log Cabin gives you the room you need without the cost and mess of a home extension.. Constructed using thick 45mm interlocking logs of kiln-dried timber, the walls of this garden cabin boast traditional log cabin charm as well as a robust, durable build. The 45mm thickness also provides excellent insulation. The floor and roof both consist of 19mm tongue and groove timber boards. Tongue and groove is known for its strength and weather-resistant properties. Ready for years withstanding the weight of furniture and footfall, the floor is further supported by pressure treated floor bearers which offer improved stability and increased resistance to damp. The modern pent roof of this log cabin is covered with Forest's Premium Felt. Industry standard mineral felt is lighter and usually only lasts 5 years before it needs replacing. This Premium Felt is backed by strong polyester fibres; has twice the rip resistance of standard felt; is heavier at 24kg; and has a life expectancy of 15 years before it needs replacing. You can also upgrade to add Underlay - an underlayer of sand felt which will further enhance the weatherproof qualities and protect the felt above from natural timber movement. For even stronger felt, opt for our Superior Felt which is 34kg felt, has three times the rip resistance of standard felt and a life expectancy of 20-30 years. This upgrade to Superior Felt also includes free underlay. We do recommend upgrading to a felt with an underlay. Fitted with a key-operated lock for security, the double doors of this cabin are glazed to also provide light to the interior. Further light, plus ventilation, is provided by the two long windows to the front of the cabin and a third long window which can be situated on the left or right side of the cabin. All the windows feature a modern tilt and turn opening mechanism and all the glass is toughened double glazing for improved insulation. If you like the Forest Mendip but would prefer a reverse apex roof log cabin, take a look at our Forest Rushock Log Cabin. As with all garden buildings, this log cabin must be assembled on a solid, level surface such as concrete. If you choose to purchase the installation service available for this garden cabin, you will need to ensure the ground and base are prepared beforehand. The timber is supplied untreated so you will need to apply a preservative upon assembly. If you need any help choosing your dream log cabin, our friendly, UK-based Customer Service Team will be happy to help on 0333 003 0514 or via Live Chat.
