Grass XS pendant light made of rattan and abacá with handmade lampshade The Grass XS pendant light catches the eye with its handmade lampshade made of rattan and abacá. Abacá is a plant species from East Asia belonging to the banana family and is used as a fibre plant, for example for the production of ship ropes. The rounded lampshade is composed of several strips in various warm colours, creating a harmonious overall look. The canopy is made of metal and the cable is made of textile, both elements are black. The pendant light emits light downwards and is ideal for illuminating the living room or dining room table, for example. It also adds a natural touch to the living environment. Grass XS was designed by product designer Jette Scheib. Her aim with Grass was to express the tranquillity inherent in the traditional weaving process and to highlight the connection between basket makers and nature. The strips in warm colours are intended to evoke the fields where the material for basket weaving grows. The pendant light was produced by the renowned lighting manufacturer Forestier.

Grass Pendant XS Brown is a beautiful lighting collection with a consistent and coherent design. The series consists of wall, table, floor and pendant lights in a variety of sizes and colours. What they all have in common is their beautifully woven lampshade in rattan and abacá, a type of banana tree native to the Philippines, which is known for its strong plant fibres used in the production of rope and cordage. The durable material and tight weave give the lampshade a firm, almost curve-like appearance that beautifully combines the potential of the natural material with skilful and well-executed design craftsmanship. The larger versions of the lamp have a wide, flat lampshade and are therefore equipped with a diffuser that shields the light bulb and thus prevents the light source from glare. The light can therefore shine softly and comfortably on all sides. At the same time, the extra wide lampshade ensures a diffused light emission to effectively illuminate the surroundings.
