On the filigree frame made of metal with a joint at the intersection of vertical and horizontal frame rod hangs a wide, handmade shade made of abacá fibers. This shade inspires with a graphic pattern in warm, natural-looking colors. A small inner shade made of raffia weave in the center shrouds the bulb and creates a glare-free and pleasant illumination. the Parrot floor lamp is a design by product designer Jette Scheib for the French lighting company Forestier. Jette Scheib founded her own design studio in Barcelona in 2005 after studying at the University of the Arts in Berlin. She works for international companies and specializes particularly in the design of lighting, home accessories and gifts. She draws inspiration from nature and organic forms and designs products in perfect balance of aesthetics and technology.

The lampshade is made of rattan and abacá, which are hand-woven in a dense pattern and have a rough surface that adds a tactile element to the lamp's design and emphasises its beautiful aesthetics. As the name suggests, the lamp is inspired by the colourful plumage and exuberance of the parrot. The colours interact beautifully in a cubist pattern that gives the surface a beautiful play of colour without appearing kitschy. The lampshade is relatively wide so it does not impede light emission. The lamp is part of a whole series that includes pendant, table, floor and wall lights in many different sizes. All come in three different colour schemes based on the shades brown, green and sand.
