Description
These Forgefix General Purpose Pozi Compatible Screws feature a countersunk head and are zinc plated for enhanced durability. As one of the most popular general purpose screws on the market, they are suited for a wide range of materials and applications.
Application
These screws are ideal for a variety of ironmongery, electrical, and plumbing applications. They can be used in conjunction with various screw cover caps, making them versatile for different projects. The zinc coating effectively prevents oxidation of the protected metal, creating a longer-lasting finish. This is achieved through the formation of a barrier that acts as a sacrificial anode if damage occurs. Unlike iron oxide, zinc oxide forms a fine white dust which does not compromise the integrity of the substrate. By remaining intact, zinc oxide also helps protect against further oxidation, similar to the protective layer formed on aluminium and stainless steel.
Design Features
The Pozidriv screw design sets these screws apart from the traditional Phillips cross-head screws. While they appear similar, the Pozidriv screws include four additional contact points and lack the rounded corners typical of Phillips screws. This design ensures that, when used with appropriate tooling, the Pozidriv screws do not cam out, allowing greater torque application and easier use. The Pozidriv screws can easily be identified by a line embossed in the screw head at a 45-degree angle to the slots meant for the driver.
The countersunk head is specifically designed to sit flush with the substrate, resulting in a smooth surface finish. Additionally, the screws feature twin threads which enable a seamless start during insertion, greatly reducing the effort needed to drive them into various materials.
Materials Compatibility
These screws are extremely versatile and can be used for fixing into a variety of substrates, including softwoods, hardwoods, chipboards, and fibreboards. Thanks to their extra deep insert bit recess, they allow for quicker and easier insertion, providing a firmer, more positive drive. The twin thread configuration together with a special wax coating enhances speed, ease of insertion, and increases holding power.
Specifications
Available in various imperial and metric sizes, these screws cater to different project requirements:
- No. 4 = 3.0mm
- No. 6 = 3.5mm
- No. 7 = 3.9mm
- No. 8 = 4.0mm
- No. 10 = 5.0mm
- No. 12 = 6.0mm
Weighing at 0.64 pounds, these high-quality screws are manufactured by ForgeFix and are an essential addition to any toolkit, providing reliable performance across a range of applications.
