Foursquare - Exceptional Cask Selection Mark XXV Equipoise 14 year old Rum 70cl 61% ABV

Foursquare Equipoise is the twenty-fifth release (Mark XXV) in the Exceptional Cask Selection series and a bottling that marks Barbados becoming the world's newest republic. This auspicious occasion has been celebrated by the Foursquare team as they have drawn on some of the distiller's oldest Rums. This complex release has been crafted from a complex maturation bill. Bringing a ten year ex-Bourbon cask Rum for a dual maturation of a further four years in ex-Calvados cask for a total of fourteen years. This is then further blended with a fourteen year old ex-Bourbon cask aged Rum. The result is a complex, soft and welcoming Rum which scored 99/100 in the IWSC 2024. Tasting Notes: Nose: Fresh ginger, dried raisins, tart Victoria plum skin and cooking apples. Dark chocolate, toffee and shortcrust pastry. Taste: Soft creamy apple pie onto the palate. Gentle notes of coconut and vanilla ice cream. Finish: Dried hazelnuts and more dried coconut. Couples with astringent notes of black tea with a tartness and a little fresh ginger heat.
