It's aimed at riders looking for a fast road bike for racing, quick group rides and solo efforts, without overlooking comfort on longer days.Giant uses its Advanced-Grade Composite construction for the frame, paired with an Advanced-Grade Composite fork and full-composite OverDrive steerer. Compared with the previous generation, Giant says the frameset is lighter while offering increased torsional and pedalling stiffness. The aim is a more responsive feel when accelerating, sprinting or changing pace.Aerodynamics have been considered across the complete bike rather than focusing on the frame alone. Giant's AeroSystem development process uses computational fluid dynamics, wind-tunnel testing and yaw-angle analysis to study airflow around both bike and rider. The frame, cockpit, wheels and tyres are then designed to work together to reduce overall resistance.OverDrive Aero technology combines a slim, tapered head tube with a D-shaped fork steerer and matching spacers. Brake hoses and electronic shifting cables are routed internally through the cockpit, frame and fork, keeping them away from the airflow and giving the front of the bike a particularly clean appearance. The Giant Contact SL Aero handlebar and stem continue this approach. The bar uses a narrow top profile and flat rear surface, while its geometry reduces width at the tops and drops. Giant says this helps reduce the rider's frontal area as well as the drag generated by the bike itself.Shimano Ultegra Di2 provides electronic 2x12-speed shifting. A 52/36T Ultegra chainset is paired with an 11-34T CS-R8100 cassette, providing closely spaced ratios for maintaining cadence at speed alongside a useful range for climbing. Electronic Di2 shifting delivers quick gear changes without the need for mechanical shift cables.Shimano Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes provide braking control, with 160mm and 140mm rotors specified. Hydraulic operation offers consistent lever feel and useful modulation, helping riders control their speed confidently on descents and in changing weather conditions.Giant SLR 2 50 WheelSystem carbon wheels use 50mm-deep hookless rims. Giant has developed the rim profile to minimise aerodynamic drag across a range of yaw angles, balancing aero performance with predictable handling as wind direction changes. The wheels are paired with Giant Gavia Course 0 tubeless tyres in a 700x28c size, with a stated 28mm effective width and supple 170 TPI casing. The tubeless setup can be run at lower pressures than a comparable traditional clincher setup, helping improve comfort and grip while sealant can deal with many small punctures. For riders wanting additional tyre volume, Giant states that the Propel can accommodate tyres up to 32mm wide. This gives scope to prioritise extra cushioning and grip for rougher road surfaces without moving away from the bike's performance-focused character.Comfort has also been considered within the frameset itself. Giant says the Vector composite seatpost provides greater compliance than the previous generation, while the redesigned fork and integrated cockpit help absorb bumps and vibration at the front. Together with the increased tyre clearance, these changes aim to reduce fatigue on longer or rougher rides. The result is a Propel that isn't solely focused on reducing aerodynamic drag. Its lighter frameset and increased stiffness are intended to provide an immediate response when accelerating, while the compliant seatpost, integrated front end and wider tyre compatibility help make sustained high-speed riding more manageable. Please note: the supplied specification lists the rear brake as "Shimano RT-CL800 160/140mm". RT-CL800 is the rotor designation rather than the brake caliper model, so I have kept the Key Features wording at Shimano Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes rather than assigning an unsupported caliper model. Specifications are subject to change without prior notice.
