Technical Information These electric rails use a PTC heating element, unlike traditional heating elements which use a resistance wire, PTC elements are made as ceramic stones. These ceramic stones are special as they are designed to heat up to a defined temperature and then maintain this temperature by reducing the amount of electric current. This means that the rail will initially heat up using the maximum rated wattage until it reaches 65°C and will then automatically reduce the amount of power whilst maintaining the temperature.
