How to Use Gro-Sure Vermiculite

# For Sowing Seeds

When preparing to sow seeds, always follow the instructions on your seed packet. Gro-Sure Vermiculite can be used on its own to raise seeds of all sizes. Alternatively, you can create a mixture of 50% Gro-Sure Seed & Cutting Compost and 50% Gro-Sure Vermiculite, which is particularly beneficial for very small seeds. Sow the seeds thinly and evenly, ensuring they are not planted too deeply. Cover your seed trays with a thin layer of Gro-Sure Vermiculite and gently moisten without overly compacting the mixture.

# Pricking Out

Once your seedlings are large enough to handle, remove them from the seed trays using a dibber or pencil. Transplant them into Gro-Sure Seed & Cutting Compost or a mixture containing 25% to 30% Gro-Sure Vermiculite. Ensure seedlings are spaced well apart to promote robust growth. Regular watering is necessary to prevent the compost from drying out until the seedlings are ready to be potted.

# Potting On

For potting on your plants, use a combination of Gro-Sure All Purpose Compost and 25% to 30% Gro-Sure Vermiculite. This mix will create a light and open structure that facilitates moisture absorption and retention, making it easier to re-wet the compost. Before transferring plants, it is advisable to water them sufficiently and allow for adequate drainage. Carefully remove the plants from their pots, position them in the new container, and firm compost around the roots, followed by thorough watering and appropriate feeding.
