GUBI Pedrera ABC table lamp, white
Description
Lamp Masters
The ABC table lamp in White was designed by Joaquim Ruiz Millet as a tribute to Barba Corsini and his original PD2 standing lamp, created for Gaudi’s famous La Pedrera in 1955. The ABC table lamp is inspired by Corsini’s powerful and simple style of design, based on the sculptural structure of the building. Ruiz Millet created a smaller version of the original lamp design, capturing its understated elegance and detailed craftsmanship and bringing about new opportunities for use of the lamp while retaining Corsini’s expression.
Barba Corsini was chosen in 1955 to renovate the attics at the prominent Antoni Gaudí landmark, La Pedrera. He transformed a laundry and storage area to 13 modern flats. In order to complete the architectural experience, Corsini designed and decorated the flats with his own designs, inspired by the characteristic appearance of the buildings.
In 1991, it was decided that the attics at La Pedrera should be restored in accordance with Gaudí’s original vision. The Corsini interiors were torn down and largely thrown away, but during the renovations the architect and gallery-owner Joaquim Ruiz Millet discovered the PD2 standing lamp and rescued it. Ruiz Millet started a collaboration with Corsini. recreating the original products and making them more accessible to the public.

Lights.coPedrera ABC - all-round designer table lamp It is thanks to the gallery owner Joaquim Ruiz Millet that the Pedrera series, which Barba Corsini designed in 1955 during the renovation of the Casa Milà in Barcelona, is being given a new edition. During the renovation of the building in 1991, he noticed a floor lamp of the PD2 model, whose design was adopted. The Casa Milà - built by Antoni Gaudí between 1906 and 1912 for the Milà family - is an imposing building with a memorable appearance, characterised by an irregular façade and countless projections, and by its overall solidity. The Casa Milà, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984, is therefore popularly known as La Pedrera (the Quarry). ABC's cylindrical shape with the all-round perforation is inspired by the simple chimneys of Casa Milà. With its timeless look, the table lamp succeeds in making the leap into modernity. It creates all-round radiant lighting in living rooms and bedrooms. The Reediton is produced by the Danish company Gubi, which is known for its high-quality furniture and lighting.
