Satellite - timelessly modern designer floor lamp for outdoor use by Mathieu Matégot This luminous accessory still looks modern today, even though it was created in 1953. Its creator, the Hungarian-French designer, architect and artist Mathieu Matégot (1910 - 2001), developed the Rigitulle on the basis of perforated sheet metal. This is a thin layer of metal perforated in various patterns, which is flexible and can be moulded into the desired shape. The oval body of the Satellite floor lamp's lampshade is made of Rigitulle in a coloured finish, using corrosion-resistant stainless steel. The light from the supplied linear LED bulb, which is protected from moisture in a cylinder, is gently emitted into the surroundings through the fine gaps in the material. Above it is a bonnet, painted black at the top and white at the bottom, which diffusely reflects the light downwards. Satellite can either be set up using the stand supplied or anchored in the ground using a ground spike. Rigitulle is a special manufacturing technique invented by the designer of the lamp itself, Mathieu Matégot, where a metal plate is bent and folded according to a specific procedure to form an elongated shape with a special textile-like appearance. The soft shapes of the elongated shade have a delicate, organic feel that is beautifully complemented by an asymmetrical, triangular outer shade that sits like a hat on top of the lamp, giving the impression of a sculptural and form-orientated designer lamp of high aesthetic value. The lampshade is perforated and emits a soft light.
