Description

Lamp Masters The Semi pendant in Ø30 Brass is a distinctive lamp that consists of two quarter-circles with their backs against each other. The characteristically arched and enamelled metal shade creates a diffuse light that is ideal for use over your dining table or kitchen table, where you need extra work light. The unique and timeless appearance of the Semi pendant – not to mention its range of colours and sizes – makes it versatile and well-suited for private and public spaces alike. Semi was designed in 1968 as a product of the creative partnership between Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup. It was manufactured in response to the soft and organic shapes of the so-called Cosy Era that dominated the Danish design landscape at the time. Bonderup and Thorup both wanted to manufacture a lamp that offered clean, sharp lines and a geometric shape. Their design was entered into a competition at the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture, where it won first prize. The pendant became hugely successful in the 1980s, becoming the best-selling Danish design at one point. It even achieved international recognition that elevated its status to iconic.

Semi pendant light - a glamorous classic of luminaire design The shade of the Semi pendant light impresses with its harmonious, concave curved shape as well as the shiny brass finish in which the entire lampshade shines. The brass tone lends additional warmth to the light emitted. The Semi pendant light thus supports a pleasant ambience - especially as a light source above a table. The design comes from the renowned Danish designers Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup, who have been working together since graduating from the Danish School of Architecture in 1969. The successful designer duo has designed clocks as well as interiors for Georg Jensen shops; they designed the harbour facilities in Elsinore from the urban planning to the ferry terminal as well as the Arcticum Museum in Finland. The Semi pendant light is produced by the Danish company Gubi, which has been dedicated to manufacturing high-quality design products in the interior design and lighting sector since it was founded in 1967.
