History: The Boxer Rebellion (18991901) was a violent uprising in China against foreign imperialism, colonialism, and Christian missionary influence. Led by the secret society known as the "Boxers" or Yihequan, the movement drew strength from nationalist fervour, traditional martial arts, and widespread resentment of Western interference. Armed with traditional weapons and driven by spiritual beliefs, the Boxers clashed with modern imperial armies in cities, countryside, and fortresses across China. Though ultimately suppressed by an international coalition, the rebellion left a lasting mark on Chinese history and global politics.
