Rich peat, marmite malt, medicinal notes; great neat or with a splash of water. Laphroaig The Exclusive Malts Single Cask #3408 12 year old 56.2% ABV Nose: Tarry, oily maritime nose: fishing ropes and lime pickle, with sooty gooseberry, inky iodine and the unmistakable Laphroaig phenolic grip. Herbal menthol lifts the peat, mingling with coal-tar smoke over muddy heather. Palate: Chocolate lime sweets meet sooty gooseberry and salted lime, with white pepper and ripe pear weaving through peat-fire smoke. Finish: Tarry liquorice lingers with sooty, peppery peat smoke, lime in rock pools, medicinal menthol, and salted popcorn from a fishing trawler, fading into a long, herbal lozenge-like finish.
