A cask strength Islay single malt from Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers Mac-Talla range, Mara reflects the maritime character of this Hebridean island, surrounded by the Atlantic sea. The palate offers notes of smoked meat, charred oak, salty driftwood and smouldering peat, with hints of dried seaweed, beach bonfires and rock salt that linger in the finish. Nose: Intense bonfire smoke with hints of citrus zest. Palate: Smoked barbecue meat, charred oak and a long powerful finish. Intense and smoky for those adventurous palates. Finish: Medium to long finish with vanilla, oak a touch of spice and warmth. Colour: Natural colour; pale straw. Thickly coats my copita, with multiple legs running down the side of the glass in parallel.
