Mortlach Midnight Malt 2023 Release Speyside Single Malt Scotch 30 year old 49.8% ABV Nose: A mellow, approachable nose with a gentle prickle that settles into a savoury, faintly herbal core, evoking pork crackling dusted with dry sage. Palate: Richly winey and apple-fruity at the start, mouth-watering and inviting, it unfolds into a long, spicy finish with a delicious black pepper note that persists. Finish: Long, sweet and deep-flavoured, with a light peppery spiciness. With water, still sweet and softer, with the spicy heat joined by a suggestion of mint chocolate in the lingering aftertaste.
