Mounjaro contains Tirzepatide as an active ingredient, it is a first-in-class medicine that activates both the GLP-1 (Glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptors, which leads to improved blood sugar control and improved insulin sensitivity.   Mounjaro has garnered significant attention for its effectiveness in controlling type 2 diabetes and aiding in weight management. Clinical studies have shown remarkable results, with obese and overweight individuals experiencing significant weight reductions of around 20-25% over a year when compared to placebo treatments. Mounjaro works by increasing insulin secretion & sensitivity. It also suppresses glucagon activity and appetite, which reduces overall food intake. The combination of GIP and GLP-1 also slows gastric emptying, thereby reducing appetite and making you feel fuller for longer. Mounjaro is administered as a subcutaneous injection (under the skin) ONCE weekly. It is available in 6 different strengths. The initial dose is 2.5mg ONCE weekly, increased by 2.5mg once every 4 weeks if tolerated well.
