Amazon FRUITY AND ELEGANT JAPANESE SINGLE MALT WHISKYNikka Miyagikyo Single Malt is a complex, fruity and soft single malt whisky made at the Miyagikyo distillery near Sendai on Japan’s main island of Honshu. The distillery is situated in a valley called Miyagi, and has been named accordingly – kyo means valley in Japanese. GRASSY NOTES, CANDIED CITRUS PEEL AND SPICES WITH A RICH SHERRY INFLUENCE – Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt is made from unpeated and lightly peated barley which gives a complex and delicate whisky with notes of freshly cut grass, nuts, citrus peel and the merest wisp of smoke. The spirit is predominantly aged in sherry casks which give rich fruit, spice and honey flavours. MODERN AND INNOVATIVE DISTILLERY – Miyagikyo was set up in 1969 after Taketsuru had been making whisky at his more traditional Yoichi distillery for 35 years. This distillery was built with the most modern equipment of its time and designed to produce spirit very different in style to Yoichi in order to give Taketsuru varied options for use in blending. THE FATHER OF JAPANESE WHISKY – Nikka was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, who is often referred to as “The Father of Japanese Whisky”. Taketsuru travelled to Scotland in 1918 to learn the art of whisky-making. Returning to Japan in 1920 with his new Scottish wife Rita, Taketsuru also brought back traditional Scotch production techniques which he blended with Japanese precision and attention to detail to create Nikka. IDEAL GIFT - This Limited Edition Japanese Whisky makes the ideal gift for a work colleague, friend or simply yourself!
