Dokka pendant light - a true classic of Norwegian design history The Dokka pendant light is made of hard-wearing, durable steel and is characterised by rich, natural tones and a harmonious balance. It has been deliberately designed without ornamentation or decorative details so as not to distract from the essentials. The light stands out with its clear, curved shapes and proportions. The well thought-out details in particular make this lamp stand out, with the two-coloured, funnel-shaped steel shade creating a very special lighting effect. The direction of light is directed straight downwards and serves an ever-increasing angle due to the funnel shape. Due to the white colouring of the shade from the inside, the light emerges even brighter. Dokka's matt outer surface and the small brass ring that appears to close the lampshade form valuable and elegant details that make the pendant light look even more appealing. The Dokka pendant light was designed in 1954 by pioneering Norwegian lighting designer Birger Dahl and was the first lamp from Norway to be awarded the Golden Medal at the prestigious Triennale di Milano. The light is known for its sleek contours and precise proportions. Dokka became one of the best-selling pendant lights ever made in Norway and then disappeared when the previous manufacturer discontinued its lighting programme. In 2007, Northern relaunched Dokka with a particular focus on preserving the features that have made it a classic. The Norwegian brand Northern was founded in 2005 by Ove Rogne, whose designs are also part of the company's extensive portfolio, and three other friends in the Norwegian capital Oslo. They attach great importance to preserving Scandinavian design traditions and interpreting them in a modern way.

Dokka Suspension Warm Beige is a little lamp with a big story. This charming pendant has roots all the way back to 1954 and was the first Norwegian-designed lamp to win a Gold Medal at the prestigious Milan Triennale. Unfortunately, it disappeared from the shelves just as quickly when its then-manufacturer decided to get out of the lighting business. In 2007 Northern relaunched Dokka, taking pains to remain faithful to the original. Recently Northern added three lovely new matte colours to supplement the original black and white - Aqua Green, Petrol Blue and Dark Grey. The original shades also got a bit of an update to make sure that all six colours worked well together. Dokka is built to last, both in terms of its classic and because it’s a solid and robust lamp. Fabricated from steel and finished with a high-quality paint job, Dokka is as popular now as it was over 60 years ago and we can picture this iconic pendant being a sought-after antique 200 years from now.
