Manor Springs Ground Mace is an aromatic spice comprising the dried, lace-like sheath of the nutmeg seed. It gives a wide range of dishes and drinks a fragrant aroma and warmth that's a lot like nutmeg but that's more intense, more peppery and not quite as sweet. Despite mace's tropical origins, it's a perfect autumn spice, frequently ground up for use in desserts such as custards and bread pudding, cakes, cookies and beverages. It is also right at home in savoury dishes that incorporate pumpkin or butternut squash, including pies and soups, and it pairs well with cream- and cheese-based recipes such as gratins.
