Description
The MASTER LEDspot range from Philips provides a low-energy, long-lasting LED MR16 spotlight option designed to replace outgoing halogen spots. This version uses a low voltage MR16 base and retrofits directly to existing fixtures, delivering the same light quality and brightness as a traditional 35W halogen while consuming a fraction of the power. With a significantly longer stated lifetime and reduced heat, UV, and IR output, these LEDs are well suited to heat-sensitive applications and materials preservation, while still fitting modern lighting needs with compatibility across common 12V transformer setups.
Technical specifications
- Power consumption: 5.5W (5.8W variant mentioned)
- Light output comparable to 35W halogen
- Lifetime: up to 25,000 hours
- Base: 12V GU5.3 2-pin
- Beam angle: 36 degrees
- Direct retrofit for MR16 fixtures
Note that some 12V transformers require a minimum load; if the LED load is too low, flickering or non-function may occur and an LED driver may be needed to ensure compatibility.
