Ronseal Total Wood Preserver is a general-purpose preserver formulated to kill woodworm and prevent rot and decay. It is designed as a pre-treatment for interior wood and is suitable for overpainting. This clear preserver preserves indoor wood and can be used on both rough and smooth timber. It is not waterproof. The product should be applied after surfaces are clean, dry, and free from coatings. When timber is decayed, remove the affected wood and replace it with sound, treated timber, cutting out and burning decayed wood at least 45 cm beyond the damaged area. Shake well before use and apply by brush, spray, or dipping; for spraying, use a coarse spray and avoid misting. End grains should be treated by dipping for complete penetration. Apply a minimum of two coats, covering all faces, sides, and joints, with particular attention to the end grain. The second coat should be applied after 24 hours, after which repairs and gluing can be carried out. Avoid contact with bitumen, bitumen felt or mastics, and plastics.

Usage steps

1. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from coatings such as paint, varnish or stain; remove decayed wood and replace with sound treated timber (cut out and burn decayed wood at least 45 cm beyond damage).
2. Shake well before use. Apply by brush, spray, or dipping (coarse spray for spraying; avoid misting).
3. Treat end grains by dipping for complete penetration. Apply a minimum of 2 coats, covering all faces, sides and joints; second coat after 24 hours.
4. When the second coat is dry, repairs and gluing can be carried out. Avoid contact with bitumen, bitumen felt or mastics and plastics.
