Rustins French Polish is a shellac-based finish made from flake shellac dissolved in alcohol. It is suitable for French polishing both dark and light-coloured woods to achieve a light to medium brown tone and can also seal wood before waxing to create a smooth, glossy surface. When applied correctly, it yields a high-gloss finish with rapid alcohol evaporation, leaving a shellac film on the timber surface. The product comes in a 500ml container and can be applied with brushes or applicators suitable for shellac finishes. For best results, ensure the wood is clean and smooth, and fill open grain with grainfiller if needed; apply as many coats as required to build up the shellac layer.
