Premium Quality & Careful Sourcing: Our Shou Mei White Tea, also known as Longevity Eyebrow, is harvested later in the season than other white teas, resulting in darker liquor and richer, more complex flavour. For Shou Mei tea, a selection of young and mature leaves are used to obtain a nuanced tea with natural sweetness and rich flavour, offering a robust yet smooth cup. Growing & Processing: Shou Mei is grown in the misty, high-altitude regions of Fujian Province, where cool, temperate conditions create the ideal environment for the tea plant. Harvested in late spring, this tea is made from older, more mature leaves compared to other white teas, resulting in a bolder flavour and darker liquor. After plucking, the leaves undergo minimal processing, including withering and drying, to maintain their natural characteristics while enhancing their depth of flavour. Health Benefits & Nutrients: Like all white teas, Shou Mei is rich in antioxidants, polyphenols, and catechins, which help support the immune system, improve skin health, and promote overall wellness. Its calming properties, due to high content of L-theanine, make it a perfect choice for stress relief, while its mild, nutty flavour is a perfect mood booster. The tea also supports cardiovascular health and detoxification, making it a great addition to a healthy lifestyle. Brewing Instructions: To brew Shou Mei, use 2-3g of loose tea leaves for 350ml of hot water and steep for 3-5 minutes. Lower temperatures around 80°C will bring out more nuanced flavours, but if you prefer a stronger flavour, increase the temperature or steeping time. The tea can be re-steeped multiple times, with each infusion offering a slightly different but equally delightful taste. Caffeine Content: Shou Mei white tea is relatively low in caffeine compared to other tea types, making this loose leaf tea a suitable choice for those seeking a gentle pick-me-up without the jitters associated with stronger brews. Taste Profile: Shou Mei White Tea has a rich and slightly sweet flavour, with notes of vanilla, nutty undertones, and a smooth, mellow texture. Compared to lighter white teas like Bai Mu Dan or White Peony, Shou Mei offers a more complex, slightly darker liquor, reminiscent of lighter oolong teas. Its taste is fuller and less subtle, making it a great option for those who enjoy a more robust white tea. Blending Suggestions: We highly recommend enjoying Shou Mei White Tea on its own. However, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can try blending it with jasmine or chamomile for an aromatic, floral experience. The vanilla and nutty notes in Shou Mei also pair well with green tea or oolong tea for a unique and complex flavour profile. For a refreshing twist, try blending it with a hint of lemongrass or mint.
