This traditional heavy-duty woodscrew is designed primarily for timber-to-timber assemblies, and for attaching ironmongery to timber or into masonry with the use of a nylon plug. It features a hexagonal head and conforms to DIN 571. The screw is zinc plated and passivated (CR3) for corrosion resistance. Typical dimensions are 10.0 x 80 mm, with a thread length of two-thirds of the overall length. In some hardwoods, pilot drill holes may be required to ensure proper insertion. Note that the thread portion is approximately 60 mm on a 100 mm screw, illustrating the relationship between overall length and thread length. This screw is suitable for a range of carpentry and hardware fastening tasks where timber joins or timber-to-ironmongery connections are needed.
