Quince Conserve is made with fruit grown on the Tiptree farm. Quince is a most unusual fruit, about the size and shape of a large misshapen pear with yellow fluffy skin. When cooked with sugar, the quince takes on a character all of its own, to create this delightful conserve. All fruit is hand sorted, the implement used to de-core the quinces is called a 'Plonker'. The Wilkin family have been farming at Tiptree, Essex, since 1757, and making quality preserves there since 1885. We grow a wide range of traditional English fruits and use them to make conserves and condiments in our nut-free factory by the farm.
