Their woven rope wicks, vital for centuries at sea, enabled flame ignition under tough conditions. Essential for warmth, cooking, and lighting pipes, these lighters remain significant despite modern technology. RELIABLE - Superior to matches or regular lighters, these are nearly indestructible and don't need fuel like butane. They create a hot ember (205-260 degrees) instead of a flame, efficiently igniting tinder bundles or gas stoves. ELEMENT-RESISTANT - The cotton wicks dry quickly and ignite even when damp. They excel in high winds, where the increased airflow actually produces a hotter ember, outperforming many traditional lighters. THE FLINT MECHANISM - They use a similar mechanism to modern day flint lighters - the flint is spring loaded and can be adjusted and replaced if needed. Striking the wheel against the flint generates sparks to ignite the cotton rope. SLOW BURNING - The cotton rope burns slowly, offering ample fuel for numerous fires. Like a match, the smouldering wick is easily positioned - perfect for igniting tinder bundles where some parts might require some more attention. EXTRA COMPONENTS - INCLUDED EXTRAS - Each lighter is accompanied by a felt drawstring carrying bag and a spare flint. Most stock flints will work with these lighters. For outdoor enthusiasts, we've also included 2 pieces of cotton char cloth.
