This premium-grade, 4.5-litre bag of terrarium substrate is the cornerstone for building a healthy, thriving environment that mimics the lush, humid conditions of a tropical forest floor. Ideal for a wide range of humidity-loving species, this moss is essential for pet owners dedicated to providing the highest standard of care and well-being for their animals. Our Sphagnum Moss is an indispensable tool for regulating and maintaining optimal humidity levels within any terrarium. Its remarkable ability to absorb and hold many times its own weight in water allows it to act as a natural reservoir, slowly releasing moisture into the air. This process creates a stable, high-humidity climate, which is crucial for preventing respiratory issues and ensuring proper shedding (ecdysis) in species such as crested geckos, dart frogs, salamanders, and many types of snakes.Key Benefits for a Flourishing Habitat:* Superior Humidity Control: Effortlessly increases and sustains ambient humidity, creating the ideal microclimate for tropical and subtropical species. Simply mist the moss regularly to keep it damp and functional.* Encourages Natural Behaviours: The soft, pliable texture provides a perfect medium for burrowing, nesting, and hiding. This encourages your pet to exhibit its natural instincts, reducing stress and promoting a sense of security.* Versatile and Multi-Purpose: Use it as a standalone substrate, mix it with other materials like coconut fibre to enhance water retention, or use it to create a vital moist hide or humid retreat. It also serves as an excellent medium for incubating reptile eggs and as a nutritious substrate for live terrarium plants like orchids and bromeliads.* Completely Natural and Safe: Sourced from 100% natural, renewable materials, our Sphagnum Moss is entirely free from chemical additives, pesticides, and artificial dyes. You can be confident you are providing a pure and safe foundation for your pet´s home. This high-quality moss is not only functional but also enhances the aesthetic appeal of your setup, providing a rich, earthy look that completes a naturalistic vivarium design. Its absorbent properties also help in breaking down waste, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment for longer periods.Main Features:* Exceptional water absorption and retention capacity.* Provides excellent aeration for substrate mixes and plant roots.* Soft texture is gentle on the sensitive skin of reptiles and amphibians.* Sourced entirely from natural and renewable resources.* Helps to facilitate the shedding process for snakes and lizards.* Lightweight and easy to spread and arrange within the terrarium. To help you build a complete and functional habitat, TRIXIE offers a wide range of terrarium accessories.
