Built on a modified Panzer III/IV chassis, the Nashorn combined mobility with exceptional firepower, although its thin armour and open fighting compartment left crews vulnerable. Despite these limitations, the Nashorn proved highly effective when used from prepared positions or long-range ambushes, where the Pak 43’s penetrating ability allowed it to disable even the heaviest enemy tanks. It served on both Eastern and Western fronts until the end of the war and remains one of the most distinctive and specialised tank destroyers of the period.
